Snapper 21-Inch Hi-Vac Self-Propelled Walk-Behind Gas Mower with 190cc Engine and Variable Speed Drive (7800980B)
The Snapper 7800980B is a 21-inch walk-behind self-propelled gas mower from the legendary Hi-Vac Lawn Series, engineered for homeowners and property owners who want heavy-duty cutting performance with the proven Hi-Vac bagging and mulching tradition Snapper is known for. Equipped with a 190cc engine producing 8.5 ft-lb gross torque, the 7800980B delivers the power needed for varied grass conditions and terrain types. Adjustable cutting height across all four wheels allows grass cuts ranging from 1.25 to 4 inches, and the drive system offers adjustable ground speed from 1.2 to 4 MPH for superior control and maneuverability in tight spaces and uneven areas. Safety and maintenance features include blade control with quick-stop safety engagement and easy access to critical mower components for lubrication and drive belt inspection, making the 7800980B a durable and versatile choice for regular seasonal lawn care.
190cc Engine with 8.5 ft-lb Gross Torque
The 190cc engine provides 8.5 ft-lb gross torque for robust performance across different terrains and grass conditions. The engine is designed for reliable starting and consistent operation through extended mowing sessions, with a 1.2-quart fuel tank that supports longer operational hours without frequent refueling. Oil capacity of 18 to 20 ounces supports adequate lubrication for sustained use across the mowing season. Recoil manual start is standard, with electric start capability supported by the platform as an option — giving the operator flexibility between traditional pull-start reliability and the convenience of push-button ignition.
Hi-Vac Cutting System with Adjustable Cutting Height
The Hi-Vac Lawn Series cutting system is the traditional Snapper strength, delivering strong suction and clipping lift for effective bagging and mulching performance. Adjustable cutting height with the ability to set all four wheels independently lets the operator match the cut to diverse lawn needs — from a clean trim at 1.25 inches to a more intensive cut at 4 inches — and supports varied grass conditions and seasonal preferences throughout the mowing season. The 21-inch cutting width provides practical coverage per pass for standard residential and semi-commercial lawn layouts with typical obstacle density.
Self-Propelled Drive with Variable Speed
The self-propelled drive system allows adjustable ground speed from 1.2 to 4 MPH, enhancing control and maneuverability in compact or uneven areas. Lower speeds support careful maneuvering near obstacles, garden beds, and fence lines, while higher speeds support efficient straight-line mowing across open sections of the lawn. The drive system and ground speed control work together to make the 7800980B suitable for tight spaces and uneven terrains, reducing operator fatigue across longer mowing sessions on demanding properties.
Safety, Durability, and Maintenance
A notable attribute is the safety mechanism involving blade control, allowing the operator to stop the blade quickly when releasing the blade engagement lever. Maintenance is facilitated through easy access to critical mower components for lubrication and checking the drive belts, reducing downtime and supporting long-term reliability. The mower is engineered with durable materials to withstand regular use, ensuring a longer lifespan and ongoing reliability in varied mowing conditions. The overall construction reflects Snapper's long-standing build standards in the walk-behind mower category, and the platform is positioned as a durable, versatile piece of equipment for users who mow regularly through the season.
